Granger & Oaks Guide to Carrington, Mapperley Park, & Sherwood

Welcome to the popular Nottingham suburbs of Sherwood, Carrington & Mapperley Park. Situated to the north of the City Centre with strong local amenities and easy access into the city, the districts just to the north of city are thriving, have active local communities, and are increasingly popular areas to live (but unless you’re local it’s often hard to pinpoint where they start and finish…)

For the uninitiated, simply head north away from the city on Mansfield Road and Carrington is the area just past the Goose Fair roundabout, where Gregory Boulevard branches off to the left. Mapperley Park is the area then situated to the right of island,  sandwiched between Mansfield Road & Woodborough Road. Defining Sherwood Rise can be more difficult, and in some cases it can almost be down to personal preference if you describe your address as being Carrington or Sherwood Rise. The area sits to the left of the Goose Fair Island as you head away from town, and is loosely the area between Hucknall Road and Sherwood Rise (it’s strictly speaking just one road). Where Carrington ends & Sherwood Rise starts really is open to debate!

Finding Carrington again isn’t a whole lot easier. Unless you live on this side of the city, you may not even know it exists! As you continue straight ahead along Mansfield Road leading away from town, Carrington merges into Sherwood at the brow of the hill, sort of..  Again, it’s a bit of a grey area!
