Following the roll-out of the new Selective Licencing Scheme for Nottingham, landlords are being reminded of their training obligation if they are the licence holder.
Managers of licenced homes are require to carry out relevant training every three years as a minimum, with an approved provider.
The Nottingham scheme differs from others around the region in that training is a compulsory element of the scheme.
Training can either be classroom or online, and the local authority will require to see evidence of the training taking place. Landlords can often be mistaken in assuming that having a property managed by an agent is sufficient, but for a landlord to fulfil the training requirement, the agent would normally need to be the licence holder.
Since Selective Licensing was introduced in 2018, Granger & Oaks have helped hundreds of clients with their licensing obligation. We find that the majority of landlords want the peace of mind of knowing the licence is being managed and they don’t want the hassle of attending training every three years.
Landlords seeking training in Nottingham should contact EMPO, Dash, or the NRLA, or alternatively drop us a line if you wish to talk about Granger & Oaks hassle-free service.
